Background of WELYRIA BIKE PROJECT

The WELYRIA Bike Project is a partnership between the Elyria Bicycle Education Center and the city of Elyria to empower Elyrians with bicycles to ride for enjoyment, health, work, school, and all the positive reasons for biking. In order to reach this goal Mayor Frank Whitfield put out a call to action for all residents who had bikes to donate to donate them to the Elyria Bicycle Center. Over 100 bikes were donated and the Elyria Bicycle Center is working to see how many they can salvage and refurbish. Once refurbished we will invite Elyria residents from the application below to take an introduction class to bike safety and maintenance. Upon completion participants  will receive a free bicycle.

Due to overwhelming requests. WeCare is working to fill the need of the current waiting list. Once that list has been met and we are able to secure more donations we will look at reopening the application. Sorry for the inconvenience.
